Disc cutters are commonly found in the construction industry and are used for cutting stone and slabs, including brickwork, breeze blocks and pavement. They are also used as heavy-duty metal cutting tools. Disc cutters are available as a mains powered tool, but because of the heavy-duty work and power required, petrol disc cutters tend to be the preferred choice of the professional. They are similar in function to an angle grinder, but much larger in size and they use a diamond cutting disc rather than an abrasive wheel.
